I adapted the design from some Bakerella ladybird cake balls but added sticks to give the whole cake pop experience.
I started by rolling balls a little larger than usual:
I then sliced off the base of the balls to give a flat bottom before adding the sticks and popping them in the freezer to firm up. Then came the dipping....
When the chocolate had dried I used dark chocolate to pipe faces onto each ladybird, sliced mini marshmallows for the eyes and a mixture of edible ink pen and dark chocolate for the spots. I actually found piping on the dark chocolate a bit easier than using the pen. The edible ink pens don't seem to like my chocolate...
Anyway - here's the finished result...
